Medical Fund for Jeff's Motorcycle Tragedy

We are reaching out to you today with heavy hearts and a plea for support. On the evening of May 21, following the joyous celebration of Kristin's bridal shower, tragedy struck their lives.

Jeff, Kristin's fiancé and an incredibly skilled motorcycle driver, was involved in a devastating accident. We are humbly asking for your assistance in raising funds to help cover the mounting medical expenses that lie ahead in the coming months.

Yesterday's accident was a sudden and unexpected event, caused by construction barriers that caught him off guard at a merge point. The impact was severe, and Kristin was shocked to witness the overwhelming response of eight or nine emergency vehicles rushing to the scene.

Jeff was immediately rushed to Regions Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery from 10 pm to 2 am. Tragically, as a result of the accident, he had to undergo a below-the-knee amputation. The emotional toll on Jeff, Kristin, and all those close to Jeff cannot be overstated, especially considering their wedding is scheduled to take place in less than 3 weeks.

In the coming weeks, Jeff will require extensive medical care, including a second surgery to address the initial amputation and a subsequent procedure to reroute his nerves, aimed at reducing phantom pains. The future is uncertain, and we anticipate there will be numerous medical procedures and treatments on Jeff's road to recovery.

These past 24 hours have been unimaginably difficult for Jeff and Kristin. Although Jeff has suffered a compound fracture of his tibia and fibula, the rest of his body is relatively unscathed. However, the medications he must take have taken a toll on his stomach, leaving him feeling increasingly ill. Witnessing his condition deteriorate has been heart-wrenching for all of us.

Adding to their challenges, 2023 has brought a series of unfortunate events to Jeff and Kristin's lives. Both were laid off earlier this year, and while Kristin has managed to secure a new job, Jeff is still searching for employment. The financial strain they are now facing is immense, as they navigate mounting medical bills, future rehabilitation costs, and the uncertainties surrounding their wedding plans. Jeff will need OT, PT, counseling, home equipment / potential home modifications, a wheelchair, and undoubtedly all sorts of things we aren’t even aware of yet.
