Hi Family and Friends!

As a few of you may know our sister Chelsea was just recently diagnosed with Endometriosis, although she has been suffering from this disease for many years. Endometriosis is a chronic, systemic inflammatory disease in which tissue similar to the uterine lining implants lesions, cysts or nodules onto different organs of the body where it should not be. It is often characterized by debilitating pain, chronic fatigue, severe abdominal bloating, digestive issues, infertility and greatly diminishes quality of life. Unfortunately, we have watched Chelsea’s health decline over the past several months due to this nasty disease. She’s had an emergency room visit, several urgent care visits and countless doctor’s appointments but with no relief. She had to stop working a couple months ago due to constant severe pain and the inability to provide care for her patients due to the physical demand of her job.

Chelsea has had to FIGHT and advocate for herself to get into the door of a specialist and thankfully is now scheduled to have surgery later this month. However, the journey to get here has not been easy. She was continuously gaslit by her general OBGYN and several primary physicians and misdiagnosed as well as racially profiled. All of which have cost her thousands in medical bills and delayed her ability to get proper treatment. Although, Chelsea will finally be receiving surgery soon, it will be just the beginning of her recovery. While there is no cure, the gold standard of treatment is surgery to remove the lesions. The hope is that after this surgery her quality of life will be improved and she can work her way back to a normal routine. But until then, she will continue to be out of work for months until she can properly heal and rehabilitate. Following the surgery she will need pelvic floor physical therapy, general physical therapy, proper diet management as well as ongoing medical management to hopefully push the endometriosis in to remission. Unfortunately, a lot of these resources (shockingly) are NOT covered by insurance and will be a great expense and stressor to her at a time where she is unable to provide for herself and doing her best to heal.

We have seen not only the physical toll this disease has taken on her, but the emotional and mental trauma as well. We want to continue to support our sister and help ease some of her stress during this time and would appreciate anything you guys could give to help her out. She is not one to ever divulge her struggles and constantly tries to keep her outlook positive but we have assured her that there are so many people out there who love her and want to help support her during this time.
