Amber goes by many titles: Working Mom, Heart Mom, Hairdresser, Down Syndrome Mom, Wife, Special Needs Warrior Mom – but her favorite title is just Mom. She is a dedicated and hard-working mom to her FIVE kids – including Ami the much loved baby of the family who happens to be a heart baby with a diagnosis of Down Syndrome. Amber works tirelessly to provide for her family along with her husband Fernando, get her big kids to all of their school and sports activities, get Ami to all of her various doctors’ appointments and therapies, and to be a voice in the world of kids with special needs - educating everyone she can on how her family (and others like hers with a down syndrome diagnosis) are more alike than different!
For the last few years Amber has struggled with some medical issues that have made it hard to be there 100% for her kids and husband. (More medical information below for those interested!) She is finally able to have the surgery she needs to get back to herself. However, being a self-employed mom of five makes taking that step very hard! Her portion of the cost of surgery AFTER insurance is over $5,000 and 25% of that is due before the surgery which is schedule for 2/28. And that amount does not include follow up appointments, loss of income from time off of work, and meals & childcare during her recovery time. This Go Fund Me was created to help alleviate some of that financial burden (and the stress from it) for Amber so that she can get the medical care she needs, take time off for the surgery and recovery, and get back to being her amazing self!
Amber (like most moms) is not one to ask for help! She regularly blesses others through her IG page and supporting other moms of kids with special needs – she was hesitant to allow us to set this up, but in the end with the stress of surgery and the financial strain AND some convincing on our part, she admitted that this would be a huge blessing to her and her family and a weight off of her mind!
We realize that all families have struggles – a donation of any amount is very much appreciated! And if you can’t donate now, Amber would love your prayers for her and her family during the surgery and recovery!

Amber has suffered from uterine fibroids for several years. These have worsened over time and cause pelvic, abdominal, and lower back pain and exhaustion along with others. As a hairdresser and mom of five (one with health issues and a down syndrome diagnosis) these symptoms make it difficult to get it all done! Surgery should resolve all of the issues, but it comes with risks and a recovery period.
