UPDATE 9/21/22: Luis has succumbed to his injuries, going into septic shock, and his heart ultimately failed. Despite CPR efforts, the doctors could not revive him. His father was by his side during his final moments. Donations will help cover past medical expenses and funeral arrangements. UPDATE 9/20/23: Luis is scheduled for surgery today. His infection has spread through the bone. In order to save his life, the doctors will need to amputate his leg. Please continue to pray for him and his family.

My name is Luis Carvajal. I am 44-years old. I faced a life-altering accident that led to the loss of my left leg. Despite the challenges, I managed to make a remarkable recovery and resumed a normal life—working, engaging in sports, and embracing every moment.

However, a dark cloud has cast its shadow over my life recently. My other leg, began to cause excruciating pain, but I persisted, taking medications to alleviate the suffering. Unbeknownst to me, a silent bacterial infection and rejection were lurking within, undermining my health. My hemoglobin levels plummeted, rendering me bedridden and frail. This situation has become a heart-wrenching ordeal for both me and my family, as we find ourselves without the financial means to address all my medical needs.

I am in dire need of a critical operation and surgical debridement. Debridement is a procedure for treating a wound inside the skin. It involves thoroughly cleaning the tissue and removing all hyperkeratotic (thickened skin or callus), infected, and nonviable (necrotic or dead) tissue, foreign debris, and residual materials.

I implore and humbly appeal to the compassion and generosity of anyone reading my story. If you, as an individual or organization, could find it in your hearts to contribute to my cause, you would be providing me with the chance to regain my health and continue the life I cherish. Your support, no matter how small, will make an enormous difference and help alleviate the immense physical and emotional burden that my family and I are enduring.

Mi nombre es Luis Carvajal. Tengo 44 años. Me enfrenté a un accidente que me cambió la vida A pesar de los desafíos, logré recuperarme notablemente y reanudé una vida normal: trabajar, participar en deportes.

Sin embargo, recientemente. Mi pierna donde sufri el accidente comenzo a causar un dolor insoportable, pero persistí, tomando medicamentos para aliviar el sufrimiento. Sin que yo lo supiera, una infección bacteriana silenciosa y el rechazo estaban al acecho dentro, socavando mi salud. Mis niveles de hemoglobina se desplomaron, dejándome postrado en cama y frágil. Esta situación se ha convertido en una prueba, tanto para mí como para mi familia, ya que nos encontramos sin los medios financieros para abordar todas mis necesidades médicas.

Estoy en extrema necesidad de una operación crítica y desbridamiento quirúrgico. El desbridamiento es un procedimiento para tratar una herida dentro de la piel. Implica limpiar a fondo el tejido y eliminar todo el tejido hiperqueratósico (piel engrosada o callos), infectado y no viable (necrótico o muerto), desechos extraños y materiales residuales.

Imploro y apelo humildemente a la compasión y generosidad de cualquiera que lea mi historia.
