Angela (Bruinsma) Riggs-Melanoma Cancer Expense

Hi, this page is to help my sister, Angie Riggs, with out of pocket and travel expenses as she fights round 2 of cancer. Angie went to have her 5 year cancer free scan and small nodules were seen on her left lung. Because of her history with melanoma, she headed straight to the Mayo. They did a biopsy and it came back positive for malignant metastatic melanoma- unfortunately diagnosed as an aggressive mutation. Her team of experts at the Mayo put together a plan very quickly for her to start her treatments locally and follow ups at the Mayo for more scans and doctor consults -her plan of treatments is expected to last a year. She will be looking at time off work for treatments and any side effects along with a lot of travel and out of pocket expenses.

Angie has been a teacher for over 20 years and has touched the lives of many children and parents as she is one of those teachers who goes above and beyond. She is mother (Mama Bear) of two amazing boys, Logan, who is at Baylor University and Caden, a senior at Spearfish High School this year. She is married to Jim Riggs and is step-mom to his wonderful children as well. Angie lives for and loves her family deeply and has a very strong belief in Jesus and it shows in all she does.
