Medical expense & support - Avdo Begovic & family

Hello Family and Friends,

 

My uncle, Avdo, has been diagnosed with metastatic cancer. The last few months have been extremely challenging as Avdo and Sanja processed the diagnosis and met with several physicians. There’s a lot to navigate through this though time and he, Sanja and Hana (their 14 year old daughter) need all the help we can give them.

Everything happened so suddenly and quickly. A few months ago Avdo experienced some weakness and went to the Emergency Room. While there his scans revealed brain metastasis with an unknown origin. He underwent brain surgery to biopsy the lesion for diagnosis. Following surgery, Avdo completed 6 weeks of daily whole brain radiation. Unfortunately, his cancer metastasis is very aggressive and has spread to other organs. At this time he requires advance treatments and medical care by his side at home.

As some of you know, Avdo and Sanja have been through lot of hardship in their lives together. They spent the best years of their lives living the every day horrors during the civil war in Bosnia for 3 years. By miracle they were able to qualify for a program to relocate to United States for a second chance in life. They worked so hard for years to learn the language, go to school, and establish their family. They have enormous hearts and are the most humble and deserving people I know. I owe my family’s second chance in life to them, as they sponsored our relocation to United States when we needed it the most.

Our family is coming together to help alleviate substantial medical costs and living expenses as Avdo hasn’t been able to work for the past few months. Sanja’s earnings cannot cover all the expenses and their health insurance is insufficient for the type of care he will require. Please join us to help relieve part of this financial burden on this already hurting family during the most difficult time in their lives. I have set this account up so that all donations will go directly deposited into Avdo and Sanja’s savings account. They did not ask for donations but they desperately need all the assistance. I know that they will be humbled and greatly appreciative of any help and support that is offered to them through this fund.
