As some of you may or may not know, our dear friend Mel Branham had exploratory surgery on March 4th.  He was sent home and within a few hours, Mel went back to the emergency room and underwent emergency surgery in the early hours of March 5th.   We are raising this money to help cover some of Mel's expenses during his recovery.  This past year has been difficult for many of us, but especially for those individuals that have made it their life's purpose to either call or cue, or both.  Mel has brought joy into our lives by allowing us to dance and make lifelong friendships.  Donations, shares, forwarding by email, and prayers would all go a long way for Mel's recovery.  

For now, I have been asked that this is emailed to square dance clubs and not posted on Facebook.


March 20th

Mel is still in the hospital.  No new, news to give.  

I do want to share the below message from Paul Strauss:

While Mel is having medical issues and with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic restrictions prevent him from holding a full slate of classes/rentals at his dance hall, Candlelight Dancers will contribute all profits from classes and dances held at his facility to Mel.  We support Mel and appreciate all he has done for the square and round dance community during his many years of service to our area's dancers!  We encourage others to do what they can to similarly support him.
