Emergency Medical Expenses - Jan Bell
My mother who is currently visiting Michigan, USA from Adelaide, Australia for Mother’s Day has been admitted into St Joseph Mercy Hospital to undergo an emergency craniotomy to remove a cancerous tumor on the left side of her skull.
Although she had taken out extended health insurance for her travels, the health insurer “Cover-More” is delaying (and potentially declining) coverage on this procedure due to non-disclosure of a previous breast cancer occurrence that she was treated for, and survived more than 5+ years ago.
This has left our family with no choice but to setup a go fund me account in order to pay for her life-saving procedure, whilst we battle with the insurance company to honor the coverage that she took out specifically to cover the potential of this condition resurfacing.
We are a proud family who has always believed in the faith of god, and paid our way through life without asking for financial support from the anyone, including the government. Setting up a go-fund-me account is not something that we have decided to consider lightly, however, we have been left with absolutely no choice to seek these emergency funds to pay for a medical procedure to save her life.
Although I may never meet, or get to know you, from the bottom of my heart, her grandchildren and our extended family, thank you and may god bless you for your donation, support and prayers for her well being.
