Hello everyone,

My name is Joan Macadangdang. I moved to Hawaii from the Philippines in search of better financial opportunities and to provide my family here and back home with a better life. My lifelong dream was to bring my mother over to Hawaii and give her a new experience, one I never had as a kid. And so I finally did after years and years of waiting. At the end of this summer, I finally got to feel my mother’s embrace here at home.

She was well and strong in the beginning but unfortunately, she’s gotten really weak in less than 2 months. She cooked and looked after my kids while I worked long shifts but in such a short amount of time, she couldn’t even support herself. One night, she unexpectedly collapsed which resulted in a trip to the ER. We came to find out she has cancer. As of now she is in the ICU in a coma, her cancer is terminal, and her organs are shutting down. The doctors aren’t able to do anything and we are just waiting on her last breath. Because I just helped her move here, we weren’t able to get her a medical insurance. Our bills have racked up a fortune and it has devastated everyone in our family.
