If you know anything about this man, you know he would do anything for anyone, with no questions asked. And..if you know him well, you are aware he was in a bicycle accident last Monday afternoon. As he was riding along downtown to meet friends for a daily ride, a person in a parked car opened their door sending Tony flying off his bike on to the pavement. We are very thankful Tony had his helmet on, otherwise, he wouldn’t have been lucky enough to stand and walk away.
Unfortunately, this past week was horrible for him with constant pain from his broken ribs, torn spleen and soreness from the accident. Today, his wonderful mother Carol convinced him to go back to the ER and investigate the pain further. God was watching over him because they rushed him into surgery as a level A trauma removing blood from his abdomen, removing his spleen and leaving him in a medically induced coma.
Doctors are confident he will recover but he has a long road ahead of him. Tony will be in the hospital for 7-10 days and will require ongoing medication, therapy and a lot of support. He will be off work for at least three months and without money for basic needs, health and disability insurance, life will be very stressful for him.
Many of you avid riders, close friends and family have asked what you can do to help. So, his family decided to create this page on his behalf. Although Tony may be a little upset, I’m sure he will be grateful and appreciative of any donation.
We will post updates on his progress until he is released from the hospital.
