Medical Expenses for Tonja Brown

As most of you know, Tonja was born with a condition that has affected both of her eyes called Fuchs' (fewks) Dystrophy. This condition is where fluid builds up in the clear layer (cornea) on the front of your eye, causing the cornea to swell and thicken. This can lead to glare, blurred, or cloudy vision and eye discomfort. This condition worsens over time and without proper treatment, blindness may occur. Tonya has already had surgery on one of her eyes for a cornea transplant, but became steroid intolerant and her eye rejected the drops, leading to glaucoma and pressure building behind they eye. Tonja is needing another very extensive surgery to save her eye sight. The surgery is very complex, as she will be needing 3 surgeons to assist with the repair of her retina, a cornea transplant,   place a stent behind the eye reduce the pressure caused by the glaucoma and remove her cataracts. The emotional stress of losing her eyesight is a huge burden for her to carry alone. Although medical insurance will cover a portion of expenses, there is still a huge portion that will not be paid. The surgery will take place in Dallas and Tonja will not be able to drive herself and will be out of work for an extended period of time. It is imperative that she has this procedure to save her eye sight. This is only for one eye. The next eye will come after, if this one is successful. Please consider making a donation of any amount to help ease the burden of such a huge financial cost that Tonja is not able to sustain on her own. No amount is too small.
