Medical Expenses for Tina McConnell
Tina McConnell is a single mother who raised a daughter with no child support. She has always worked hard and has raised an incredible daughter.
Now Tina needs your help.
Tina took a new job when she moved to Stuart, Oklahoma. She worked nights but the money was good and it looked like she could finally live comfortably.
On August 16, 2019 Tina's partner realized she had not gotten up to go to work, he decided to go see what was going on.
Thankfully Daniel's family were visiting that day. Daniel came back downstairs telling his family that he thought Tina was having a seizure.
While Daniel was on the phone to Tina's daughter, she had 2 more seizures without having fully recovering.
Daniel picked up Tina, carried her downstairs and to the car; his sister broke all speed records getting to the hospital. On the way she had 7 more seizures.
In the Emergency Room Tina continued having seizures as the doctors frantically began working with her.
Tina was put in ICU at the Ada Hospital for 24 hours before being flown to Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City where she remained in ICU for 6 days all the while non-responsive to medications. Tina began rallying on the 8th day and was moved to step-down ICU where she remained for 3 days. By this time Tina weighed 88 pounds.
Tina was moved back to Ada where she stayed in Mercy Hospital Physical Therapy Unit for 10 days relearning to walk and feed herself. She will continue home physical therapy for the next 6 months.
Tina is home now but her problems are far from over. When Tina took her new job she explained that she had some medical problems; fibromyalgia, migraines and a history of seizures. They told her that she would have full medical coverage for both her and her daughter.
Tina has now learned that her insurance was not major medical. Because of this she cannot get insurance until November but it won't take effect until January.
In the meantime, Tina is looking at a huge hospital bill but that is not the worst. Her prescriptions amount to $1,500 a month!
Tina is out of a job and no insurance to help her with the cost of her medications. Daniel has paid for as much of her medication costs as he could. He is now out of money. Tina borrowed money from her brother but she cannot do that for the next several months while she is waiting on insurance.
Tina is desperately needing help paying for her medication for the next 4 months until she is able to get medical insurance. Without these vital medications to prevent more seizures Tina will soon be back in the hospital.
