With a heavy heart, I am sharing some devastating news of one of our own. At 6:50 PM on Tuesday night, Baby Atlas (who just turned one) took a terrible fall at home. He began vomiting instantly and was in and out of consciousness until the paramedics arrived. Due to his state, he was life-flighted to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. His parents, David and MacKenzie Wiseman, were transported down to meet him. During this traumatic experience they met Atlas with a neck brace and with x-rays performed. The Doctors took Atlas in for a rush MRI around 10pm. The results of the MRI showed that he had 3 small brain bleeds and they were going to have him there for a minimum of 24 hours. Atlas was hooked up to monitors to keep tabs on his vitals and at this time David and MacKenzie were able to hold and lay with Atlas bringing them and this sweet boy some comfort. Some of their church members met them down at the hospital to give Atlas a blessing, which was a big comfort for the Wiseman family.
Early Wednesday morning around 5am Atlas was taken for a second MRI to look for additional blood and fluid. At this time Atlas and his parents were moved out of the ER and into a more comfortable room. Around 6am the Neurologist came in and said that his 2nd MRI was reassuring! Atlas woke up and appeared to be feeling like himself again. He was alert and smiling and babbling. They were feeling hopeful to see their sweet baby boy coming around! Atlas was cleared to eat so was given a bottle, but moments later threw the entire bottle back up. Around 11am Atlas had another x-ray, this time full body, luckily nothing too concerning there. Atlas was brought a play mat and some toys from his nurse team.
Late Wednesday, Atlas began acting very lethargic. He has had short windows of wake time in between a lot of sleep. He has been on an IV and has had 2 additional MRI’s. Atlas has made his way back into the ICU to have his brain activity monitored. Atlas is still not holding down food or liquids. At this time there is no clear answer of when the Wiseman Family will be cleared to come home. Nurses say when he is eating and drinking normally.
Mom and Dad are exhausted and praying so hard for this sweet boy to recover quickly. We started a go fund me to help cover the medical expenses incurred. If you feel inclined to help! David and MacKenzie don’t have family locally, but luckily but luckily they have the support of Estacada, and the Tiny Timbers Family!
Thank you and have a blessed day!
