Medical Expenses for the Benson Family

Hi, my name is Craig Driver a longtime friend of Brandon Benson. I'm starting this Go Fund Me to help Brandon and Brooke Benson cover their upcoming medical expenses for their daughter who is due February of 2024.

Their daughter has been diagnosed with multiple heart defects including Hypoplastic Right Heart Syndrome, Double Inlet Left Ventricle, Transposition of the Greater Arteries and a Ventricular Septal Defect. With these defects it caused the right side of her heart to not develop so she will be born essentially with half a heart. With this condition she will most likely need three heart surgeries over her first few years of life. After birth they will monitor her to see what interventions may be needed. The main concerns initially will be her pulmonary artery and aorta. Depending on what surgery she may need, they could have to spend up to 8 weeks in the hospital for her post surgery recovery. They will be able to go home for a couple months with frequent trips to Colorado for doctors appointments until she will have her second heart surgery called the Glenn around 4-6 months of age. This will require an estimated 3 week post surgery recovery in Colorado. The last of her 3 surgeries is the Fontan and she will need that surgery sometime between the age of 2-5 years old. The goal after all her surgeries is to successfully teach her body how to function as a single ventricular patient.

The donated funds will be used to cover future medical, travel, and living expenses.
