Hello my name is Natalie - and I am an anytime fitness member, who met Tanya a few years ago.
Tanya is an amazing friend, mother, grandmother , and partner.
She puts others before herself, and is truly a beautiful person inside and out.
Tanya exudes positivity, and she is most at home being active and surrounded by her loved ones.
She is a Parkinson’s warrior, but in the last few months her symptoms have gotten progressively worse.
As we know, Tanya has been approved for DBS- to help alleviate some of her Parkinson’s symptoms.
DBS (deep brain stimulation)
is a surgical intervention used to treat patients with movement disorders such as essential tremor, Parkinson's disease and dystonia.
Deep brain stimulation involves creating small holes in the skull to implant the electrodes into the brain tissue as well as performing surgery to implant the device that contains the batteries under the skin in the chest.
Unfortunately,
With this comes many months of recovery.
Which includes multiple trips to Vancouver.
Tanya, has already had to go over for MRIs, consults, and testing. These are usually overnight trips.
After surgery, she will have to make a weekly trip for six weeks.
Additionally, Tanya will have to make trips to Vancouver for life.
Ferry rides, and hotel costs add up quickly, and Tanya will have to be off work for the unforeseeable future.
Let’s help alleviate some stress for her and her family , as she goes through her journey of healing.
