Travis and Cheryl were a fairytale.
High school sweethearts.
They each went to nursing school. Travis proposed at Cheryl’s nursing graduation.
Worked together as PCTs and then as nurses in a new hospital.
Cheryl had her dream Disney wedding in a castle.
Cheryl and Travis had a Disney World honeymoon.
They did travel nursing together, to go out and explore what the world had to offer in the PNW.
Travis and Cheryl bought their house back home, close to family and were starting their own little family.
First with their new dog - Sophie and a baby on the way.
Travis and Cheryl kept the baby’s name a secret. But if I were to guess, they named the baby Ellie based off a Disney movie.
Cheryl, just 28 years old had a healthy pregnancy like most do.
Cheryl and Travis went in to the hospital to be induced. On the morning of February 8th, while up and walking to the bathroom, Cheryl collapsed.
Cheryl went into cardiac arrest and the baby was taken by c-section.
Despite efforts, Cheryl eventually passed away hours later at the hospital where her and Travis first started working at.
Baby Ellie was life flighted to the NICU at West Penn.
Baby Ellie is currently on life support, suffering from Hypoxic Induced Encephalopathy.
Baby Ellie had the breathing tube removed but she did not do well and needed to be put back on the breathing machine.
She is currently on a cooling protocol to help increase her brain function. Travis won’t find out more February 13th. That’s when the baby will be rewarmed and taken for her follow up CT scan.
Travis’s life has now changed in an instant. I’m writing this to see if anyone can donate any amount to help with funeral expenses for Cheryl and medical expenses for the baby and what may come for the help Travis will certainly need in Baby Ellie’s short term future.
