We are the daughters of Steven Marquez. We are a very close, happy, caring, hard working and thoughtful family. And parents have always instilled in us to help others whenever we can. Our father has always provided for his family, been supportive of our choices and has always offered up advice when we needed it. He is someone who hates asking for help, sharing his flaws and now his medical illness. Our father has been living with diabetes for many years now and it wasn't until about 4 years ago that it really started to affect his life. He is now legally blind and has been diagnosed with stage 5 kidney failure. He recently started dialysis and hopes to receive a live kidney transplant by the end of 2020. He has been hospitalized twice this past year due to low oxygen levels and high blood sugar. He does not get frightened easily but he does get anxious everything he goes in for an appointment, not knowing what they might say. With dialysis, he is feeling a lot better, but the constant doctor visits, new medicines and lab work needed to be done, as well as their monthly bills, our parents are unable to keep up financially. Dialysis is an everyday treatment and we hope that in a year from now, all will be a smaller expense. Our father has been unable to work for a few years now and our mother has dedicated to care for him in this time, as well as being available to babysit her grandchildren when needed. He does receive social security as an income, but it just isn't enough to pay all the medical bills that have come up in the past year. We are asking for your help, anything really. Positive thoughts everyday and prayers every night. And some financial help if you can. This is a start on getting his financial hardships on track while we try to improve his medical health.
