Medical Expenses for Sharen Branton

Sharen, 63, has been married to her husband Jimmy for 42 years. They have two children and two grandchildren.

In August 2022, Sharen was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive cancer called Uterine Serous Carcinoma. Her doctors felt confident that it was only Stage 1 and it was caught early. They scheduled her for a hysterectomy that next month on September 2nd. After her hysterectomy, we were told she was in fact Stage 3 and that the cancer had spread beyond her uterus to her lymph nodes. They were able to remove the lymph nodes that showed signs of cancer cells and soon after started her on a vigorous treatment of radiation and chemotherapy. Before her 3 month scan, she was experiencing severe abdominal pain. Her abdomen was building up with fluid, that upon testing showed cancer cells.

After more testing, MD Anderson found a small tumor that had attached in her upper abdomen. In order to contain it, we had to switch treatment to an immunotherapy that was supposed to be a more gentle approach, but would take the cancer by surprise since it had built up an immunity to chemotherapy. Since, she has had multiple complications due to the side effects and because of this, she cannot work.

She has been let go of her banking job of 22 years after exhausting all leave. She also has lost her insurance and having to pay out of pocket for Cobra just so that she can continue her treatments to live. She is tremendously loved by her friends and family. If you are lucky enough to know her personally, then I’m sure you’ve laughed until you’ve almost peed, eaten her delicious cooking, know what her Budlight Platinum limit is and felt her warm embrace that only a mother can give. Please pray for our dear wife, mother, sister and woman of God for healing and strength.
