Medical Expenses for Paul Gonzalez

On May 4th, 2021, my loving husband Paul, suffered a massive heart attack at home. After I called 911, and performed CPR ,EMS arrived and was able to resuscitate him. He had been without a pulse for 25 minutes. His heart had to be shocked 4 times at home and then once more in the ambulance on the way to the hospital and again in the ER. We are very lucky he is still with us as he did leave us briefly. However, the road to recovery is just beginning.
After he was brought back in the E.R., he was given the "Arctic Sun". It is a way of cooling the body in an effort to stop the swelling of internal organs; especially the brain. He was slowly cooled for 24 hours, then slowly warmed again. This procedure likely helped to save his life, as at the time it was used, Paul was in complete organ failure. This required him to be paralyzed and heavily sedated.
While many organs are coming back on line after this procedure, his kidneys are not. He is undergoing dialysis while we wait to see if they will come back or not.
It has been over a week and they are just now getting his creatinine numbers ( these number indicate the amount of toxins in his system) down low enough to start examining the heart. We know he will need a defibrillator but testing is needed to see if he needs additional surgery for blocked arteries.
Due to the severity of the heart attack and the problems associated with prolonged lack of oxygen, Paul will need several types of therapy such as speech, physical and occupational. At this time, all therapies are recommended as in-patient due to the severity of his needs. These will require an additional 2-3 week stay in the hospital AFTER kidney and heart interventions have been implemented.
Paul has always been a strong, independent man. He is the best husband a woman could ask for and our dogs are his kids. He has always been such a hard working man that he rarely made time for himself. If you know Paul, you know he worries about being able to help others and never asks for help during times of struggle.
I'm reaching out to all friends, family, and friends of friends for any financial help they are able to give. Money is the LAST thing I want Paul worrying about right now, but Paul will require additional WEEKS in the hospital.
All of these funds will go towards his medical bills and rehabilitation.
Thank you all so much for your help. Any little bit helps.
