Hi, I’m Monica Woodward and I’m Steve’s stepdaughter. I’m fundraising for medical expenses for Papa Steve.
On July 20, Steve was taken to the ER for what seemed to be an infection causing him fever and pain for several days. My mom, Sylvia thought they’d give him antibiotics and maybe a steroid and send him home. Now, 12 days later, he’s been in the ICU for several critical health issues: surgeries, medically-induced coma, and severe respiratory issues.
Steve is very slowly coming back to us. However, there is a long road ahead including additional surgery(s), long-term rehabilitation, and possible home-care.
As many of you know, my mom, has also been dealt a difficult hand this year with her own health challenges, but even with that she hasn’t left Steve’s side. She has only left to get a change of clothes and go across the street to her radiation treatments. Chelsie, Steve’s daughter, has spent a lot of time with him too. They make sure he’s never alone.
Steve has had a good couple of years with his painting business, Easy Flow Painting. Unfortunately, that will be on pause indefinitely. The medical expenses haven’t started coming in yet but we know they will. The day-to-day expenses haven’t stopped though. Even with insurance we know that this is going to be a huge financial burden for them.
Any dollar amount donated will be so appreciated. We appreciate the outpouring of prayers and texts; the neighbors who are watering Steve’s prized plants and mowing the lawn; friends who drop off food to the hospital; etc. I know Mom, Steve, and Chelsie sincerely thank you!!!
Thank you for taking the time to read this. We need Papa Steve around much much longer to take that trip to Hawaii with mom; to play with Avery and Ava outside in the backyard; to give us girls Chelsie, Nora Lisa, and me a hard time; and then play some awesome music on the TV and sit back on the patio and just relax.
