MEDICAL EXPENSES FOR NIKKI OUR AKITA

Hi, My name is Kathryn. My son and I are trying to raise money for medical expenses for our Akita Nikki.

On July 3rd, 2022 our Akita was hospitalized at Animal Care Center in Plainfield, IL, with sudden paralysis in her back legs. X-rays show arthritis and loss of mobility to pinched nerves in her neck and pelvis. She is on strong pain medication and anti-inflammatory medication.

On July 5th, Nikki made some progress and could get herself up to stand for a brief time. She was referred to the University Of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine to see a neurologist and have an MRI, and see if she would need surgery.

The cost of an MRI is between $3-$4,000. This does not include emergency costs, IV fluids or medications. If she needs surgery, the cost is estimated at another $4-$5,000. This cost will not include a hospital stay or 6 to 8 months of physical therapy she needs.

Our Nikki is exceptionally healthy, and we want to give her the best recovery possible.
