Medical Expenses for Nathan Crawford
Donation protected
Nathan Crawford was shot in the back of the head at close range with a 9mm in Fargo, ND while hanging out with friends after work. The amazing doctors at the ER saved his life, but he is no longer able to work and does not have insurance while recovering. He is currently in a lot of pain and has issues with his vision. He needs funds to pay regular bills like rent and food, he also needs to see a neurologist so that he can recover fully. The goal is set fairly high because medical specialists are usually expensive, this is an estimated cost for rehabilitation for the injuries sustained. At this time we do not believe that he will need further surgeries, but we know he needs a doctor to help him with a recovery program. Traumatic brain injuries are very complicated and only receiving treatment from an ER will not help this. Emergency medicine is about getting the patient stable and releasing them to the care of a doctor, when the patient can no longer pay for a doctor or insurance because of a debilitating injury they are often left without care and sometimes go into an endless cycle of ER visits that clog the system and only help the patient minimally, if at all. I have personally known Nathan for over 15 years and he has always been a hard worker. He is the victim of a violent crime, and now can't get through the red tape barring him from the compassionate care he deserves, to have the chance to recover, and become a productive member of society again.
