Dear Friends,
I'm reaching out to everyone on behalf of our friend Natalie Cummings who was just diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer.
A little over a month ago, Natalie discovered a lump. She wasn't terribly concerned because she had a mammogram last fall and it came back clean. Nonetheless, after seeing her doctor, getting another mammogram and biopsy, it was confirmed that the lump is malignant. She has two tumors, each approx. 2 cm. Natalie got a second opinion this week at Sibley and they have given her a treatment plan which includes 4-5 months of chemotherapy followed by surgery (either mastectomy or lumpectomy depending on how the tumors respond to chemo) then 6 months of chemo pills and antibodies.
Her long term prognosis is very good but it's going to be a long and hard road to full recovery.
Natalie is not keen on me reaching out and asking for financial help but you all know how I roll. Natalie's insurance requires very high co pays every time she walks into a doctor's office for visit or procedure. With 10 visits or more per month over the next year, Shawn and Natalie are looking at spending thousands out of pocket. If you are in a position to make a donation, I know how grateful Natalie and Shawn will be. If you are not in a position, that's fine too. You can help in other ways too by just sending her an encouraging message.
Thank you in advance for your love and well wishes to our beloved friend as she begins this rough road and KICKS CANCER'S ASS.
