Medical Expenses for Miken
Hi, my name is Shawna and I am fund raising for my friends Matt and Whitney as their fur baby Miken has incurred an enormous amount of medical expenses due to being hit on the road and attacked by coyotes.
Back story:
Miken ran away from her home Saturday May 29th and was missing for 5 days and 4 nights before she was found. Miken was hit by a car and suffered a broken leg as well as damaged muscle surrounding it. For days she fought off coyotes as they attacked and tried to eat her. Many family and friends helped by making flyers and searching every day for her. At 7pm Wednesday June 2nd, Whitney received a tip about a possible sighting by a creek a kilometer away from the family home. Once again, family and friends helped search for her along the creek. Whitney found Miken badly injured and laying in the bushes for protection, Miken was so happy and relieved to be found. She got up and tried to walk but her injuries were too severe so Whitney carried her all the way to the road. Miken was taken to an emergency vet clinic in Brantford where she received fluids, pain medication and x-rays. This is when they realized how extensive her injuries were and that she would require surgery on both the coyote wounds and her broken leg. She is currently receiving top notch care from the Mississauga Oakville Veterinary Emergency Hospital and her first of two surgeries went well. Her extended stay and two surgeries are going to cost $12000-$14000 and her recovery will be a few months down the road. The strength Miken had to have to fight off coyotes and survive long enough to be found is nothing short of extraordinary, it was a miracle to even find her.
We thank you for your support in helping us give Miken the best medical treatment possible so we can bring her home to her family.
