Medical Expenses for Marilyn Jackson

Our very dear Mother and wife, Marilyn Jackson, was diagnosed with Small Cell Lung Cancer in October 2020. For those of you that know her, you know she is an extraordinary woman. She is incredibly loving and has always put her family, friends and students before herself.

She started chemotherapy in January 2021, followed by gamma knife brain radiation, 5 rounds of whole brain radiation, another round of chemotherapy, and finally another 10 rounds of whole brain radiation in January of this year. Through all of this she has been SO strong and such a fighter.

Since this past December, we have seen a steady decline in Mom’s health and a rapid progression of the disease. In the last couple weeks alone, she has become unable to walk and in an extreme amount of pain. She has spent the last week in Cleveland Clinic hospital. It was decided yesterday, March 9th, that any further treatment would be detrimental to Mom and her quality of life. So Mom, with the full and unwavering support of her husband and children, and with advice from her team of physicians at Cleveland Clinic, decided not to continue treatment. We want to spend Marilyn’s final days/weeks/months together and in a place that she is comfortable and has around the clock medical care that she very much deserves.

With that being said, insurance does not cover facility room and board or 24 hour medical care. Our family wants to be exactly that during this time - her family. We want to be a husband, daughters, and a son - and we want Marilyn to be comfortable and receive the quality of care she needs and deserves.

This is not easy to reach out and ask for help like this, but our resources are limited. This will help with these medical expenses, supplement income so Ed can take some time off work and it’ll help with household necessities and bills.
