Lucas is currently in the hospital being treated for major complications from a surgery he underwent this past Tuesday. Emily has been by his side throughout this entire process and has had to miss work and be away from their two currently sick little girls. I will put the full post with details from Emily below:

“Please send prayers for my husband and keep him in your thoughts.

He went in on Tuesday for a routine tonsillectomy and removal of some other tissues in his throat to help with his severe sleep apnea and sinus issues.

What was supposed to be two days has turned into anyone’s worst nightmare. He was sent back to the ICU last night after just having moved to observation on the track to going home.

Thank God we did not get home because who knows if he would still be here. He is currently in the ICU on a ventilator and sedated because it was the safest course of action after a night full of crashing BP, extremely high heart rate, mental confusion and struggles to breathe.

I was either in the room or just outside for the entirety of a code blue being called, watching as 50 or more people rushed the room doing different jobs to save his life. I thought we were going to lose him multiple different times throughout the night and I have never been more terrified. An incredible team worked to stabilize him and find the source of the problem.

He has toxic shock sepsis in his lungs and blood. He also has what looks like aspiration pneumonia. The team here is incredible and working tirelessly to push him towards recovery. We are not even close to being out of the woods but I know we have a village behind us and that he is going to pull through this.

They are working on getting him to breathe on his own which he is definitely doing, weaning him from the ventilator and treating with extreme antibiotics to fight infection.

This is the “in sickness” and “for worse” part of the vows and I am faithful that God and Medicine will bring us through.”

I am hoping to raise some funds for them as I know this is going to be a large financial burden with bills as well as being out of work for both of them for so long. As of right now Lucas is still fighting like hell and he’s making positive progress so we are hopeful that he is going to fully recover.
