Medical Expenses for Lenny Young

Donation protected

On January 18th, Lenny Young was a victim of a hit and run accident while travelling with his son in Vung Tau, Vietnam. The two were riding bikes on their way to pick up some groceries for breakfast when Lenny was blindsided by a car. The car didn't stop after the accident, and left him severely injured on the road. His son Michael looked back and found him laying on the road.

Emergency services are limited in Vung Tau, so Michael had to lift him into a cab in agony. The cab took them to the closest hospital, where he was immediately transferred to Ho Chi Min in ambulance due to a need for intensive care.

He has several compound fractures in his right shoulder, and a broken leg; both the shoulder and left have required extensive surgery, and will require lots of physical therapy. It is likely he will require a full shoulder replacement after returning to Canada.

Lenny has been in the FV Hospital in Vietnam since the accident.

He did not have travel insurance, and will be paying out of pocket for his stay, and surgery which will be financially devestating. He will require an upgraded airline seat so his leg can be extended in cast for the duration of the flight, and will be off work for several months upon his return while completing physical therapy.
