Medical Expenses for Larry Dean Holland Jr

Donation protected
My dad is currently in the hospital following a quadruple bypass. My dad is going to need cardiac and primary follow up care as well as new medications that may be expensive. This money would help with medication, follow up appointments, at home supplies, and medical bills. Currently, my mom is the main financial provider in the home due to my father’s disabilities and many know she is not one to ask for help. This has caused a great deal of stress on her as well as my dad. I want to help give my mom the ease of mind to help her focus on my dad.

Back story and further explanation:
My dad was admitted to the hospital this past Friday for a toe amputation due to an infection. Originally the surgery was scheduled for early afternoon Saturday. Saturday rolled around and the surgery was pushed to Sunday due to an overbooked OR schedule. Unfortunately over the night on Sunday my dad hit a huge decline. He was diagnosed with AFIB, DKA and sepsis due to the toe infection. Unfortunately his heart was rapidly beating and irregular due to the AFIB and had extreme shortness of breath. Sunday and part of Monday he was transferred to ICU at Memorial Hermann Northeast in Humble due to his condition. They scheduled him for an ASAP heart cath to go in and see what exactly needed to be done. That happened yesterday and we were informed that he has several blocked arteries in his heart. He was immediately life flighted to Memorial Hermann downtown to the CVICU center for critical cardiac care. He is currently intubated due to respiratory distress, has fluid in the left lung and around his heart. He was diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia. My dad had a quadruple bypass, ablation, and closure of a heart defect on Wednesday. Additionally, he will soon have a pacemaker inserted as well as the original toe amputation, He is estimated to remain in the hospital for an additional two weeks.

We are thankful for all the doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners and other healthcare professionals who have cared for him during this time. We ask that you pray for strength and health. We ask that you pray for guidance and steady hands of the doctors and nurses. All prayers are needed and extremely appreciated. Additionally, if you are involved in a church we ask that you add my dad, Larry Holland Jr, to your prayer list.

I love you daddy and we are so ready to have you home in our arms❤️

Thank you in advance❤️

Update on Dad:
We got him home at the end of June around the 23rd. He did not need a pacemaker in the end, the toe was amputated, and he was healing great from the bypass. Everything was doing good and he was gaining strength and beginning to get around much better.
Unfortunately, last week he had two trips to the ER due to low blood sugar caused by a medication he was taking. After the two spells of low blood sugar, he became very weak and tired but since stopping the medication his blood sugar is stable. He is still very weak and does not have much of an appetite. On Friday the 11th, we followed up with his cardio thoracic surgeon and they removed sutures and cleared him for normal activity. On Monday the 14th, around 6 PM he began having a pink fluid drain from his incision site. After speaking with the after hours on call provider, he told us to cover the incision and apply pressure for the drainage to stop. We were told if the drainage does not stop on Tuesday to call the surgeon. On Tuesday, the incision was still draining, beginning to pus and turn red and swollen. We did not hear back from the surgeons office until Wednesday early afternoon where we did a telemed and were told to go to Memorial Hermann- TMC for admission due to an infected incision. Dad was admitted yesterday to the HVI CVIMU in prep for a wound vac today. This morning, he was moved to the HVI CVICU due to distress breathing and possible intubation. When the Surgeons PA saw dad his morning to place the wound VAC the incision opened more and the drainage increased. The PA informed us that his sternum has began to separate so he will have multiple surgeries over the next few days to clean out the infection and close the sternum. Please continue to keep my dad in your prayers as this is a long hard road to recovery. ❤️‍
