Medical Expenses for Kevin Barta
Donation protected
Kevin was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2018. His Oncologist decided chemotherapy would be the best treatment option. Kevin endured months of chemotherapy and remained positive. His post chemo scan came back a year later and I'm happy to say the treatment was a success and he went into remission! Prayers had been answered! The next year Kevin was able to live his life doing the things he loves most.
This year came with some devastating news; the cancer has metastasized to the liver which means he is now a stage IV. There were 5 small spots on the liver that the Oncologist was watching. The cancer spread aggressively and Kevin currently has 9 cancerous lesions on his liver; one of which is very deep and is inoperable. Back to the drawing board.
Kevin has been meeting with the Oncology team to devise a plan to beat cancer once again. This has been extra challenging this time due to the pandemic both financially, socially, and emotionally. Kevin will start Chemotherapy tomorrow. He will do 3 months of Irrinotecan Chemo to shrink the tumors. Typically, an antibody agent called Panitumimab is taken along with it. The purpose of that is to assist in finding the cancer cells and attack them. The drug has severe rash side effect to it. His Oncologist wants to see how Kevin's immune response reacts to the Irrinotecan first. If in three months there hasn't been a lot of shrinkage within the lesions, he will put Kevin on the Panitumimab. Let's hope this isn't a necessary measure! Once the lesions have shrunk enough, he can have surgery to remove all but 1. Kevin has a long road ahead of him but positivity and prayer will hopefully get him through!
With all that being said, Kevin could use some help financially. Even though he has medical insurance, the medical bills are mounting. He can't afford to stop working because he would then lose his medical insurance and because he works he doesn't qualify for any medical aid. Kevin is a very hard worker and is hoping to push through and try to keep working throughout the duration of his treatment. The side effects his body will go through are unknown as this is a new chemotherapy than what he previously went through.
Kevin is the nicest man you will ever meet. He would never hesitate to help anyone in need. Stress is something that can wear down the body and not let the immune system function as it's suppose to. If anyone can help lift some of the financial burden off of Kevin's shoulders and donate, it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all for helping and please keep Kevin in your daily prayers.
Sincerely,
Cole & Bobbi Barta
