Medical Expenses for Jody

Donation protected
NEXT STEPS IN THE JOURNEY
Jody has been discharged from the hospital and in undergoing physical therapy.  He is being fitted for his prosthetic leg and learning how to manage with it.  The family still has lots of needs, medical expenses, and housing rehabilitation costs as they continue in this journey.  We are grateful for God's provision through all of this, and very grateful for the donations received so far.  the biggest blessing in this, of course, is that Jody survived the accident and is healing!  Please donate if you can, and share on facebook.  THANK YOU!

HISTORY
My brother-in-law was severely injured in an accident on December 18, 2021.  He was on the shoulder of the highway, loading a recycling bin into his truck.    He was completely off the road when a vehicle veered off the highway and hit him from behind and also hit his truck.  His 11 year old son was in the truck and was able to call 911 and get help to the scene quickly.  Our thanks to all those who responded so quickly and got Jody to the hospital.

He was airlifted to the hospital from the crash site and underwent the first of multiple surgeries on December 18. His leg was amputated above the knee, he lost a kidney, his spleen, and part of his intestines and colon. He faces multiple surgeries in the future, and will be unable to return to work for some time after being released from the hospital. There will be substantial medical expenses not covered by insurance, as well as modifications to his home to accommodate his new reality. He is married with 3 children. My sister-in-law is a teacher and will likely need time away from teaching to care for her husband when he is able to come home.

We expect that he will be hospitalized for the next month and will then go to a rehabilitation facility.   He will face lengthy physical therapy and will need a prosthetic device,  There will be ongoing expenses related to the injuries he sustained.

Their home was damaged in the storms on Wednesday night and needs some roof repairs.  Temporary repairs have been completed but a more thorough job will need to be done when the weather is better.   The truck will need to be replaced.

This family has faced some hard times but have always worked together to get through those times and to give back to the community. We (the rest of the family) have put this page together to try and help them financially.

All funds raised will be used to help pay medical expenses and repair/remodeling expenses.
