Medical Expenses for Jim Cooper

On March 20th Jim and Nicolas (our Down syndrome son) had a fun day planned at the motocross park. Unfortunately, Jim had an accident and was life-flighted from the scene. He underwent emergency surgery to stabilize his neck fracture. His second surgery to repair the 7 fractured vertebrae protruding into the spinal cord was completed two days later. Overall, Jim sustained 12 spinal fractures, 13 rib fractures, a sternal fracture, an ankle fracture, and a pneumothorax. Jim arrived at the ER with no use of his hands and legs. He has been making minor improvements each day and has gained some mobility in his arms and left leg. There is little sensation from his chest down and in his fingers. He will need long-term physical therapy to work towards walking again. We will have overwhelming medical expenses. Jim is a primary caretaker for our son, and why we are praying for his best functional outcome to be, as Nicolas would say- "the best" Dad again. Thank you for all your support.
