Medical expenses for JD

As some of you may know, on April 28th, the McElhaney family got the devastating news that J.D. was diagnosed with lung cancer- small cell carcinoma. This type of cancer is known to be aggressive and moves quickly. This news has been extremely hard for the family and those close to him to deal with.

J.D. and his family have decided to fight this aggressive cancer, and receive treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. With this being said, starting this week, J.D. will be getting very intense treatments that require him to stay in Houston near MD Anderson for a month straight. The family will be traveling back and forth to be with J.D. during this hard time.

Unfortunately, insurance doesn’t cover all of the expenses that come along with fighting this terrible disease. Many more trips and extended hotel stays are most certainly in their future. Not to mention the fact that he will be unable to work.

Those that know J.D. have experienced his generous nature and willingness to lend a hand whenever needed. He is always just a call away and is more than willing to help. It is our turn to repay the favor by supporting J.D. and his family during this difficult time. Our ability to remove some of the financial burden will enable him to stay focused on himself and put all of his energy into getting better.

I know the family would value and appreciate any and all help that could be given for J.D. during these hard times. No matter the donation amount—big, small, or nothing— we know there is no more powerful way to show your support than through prayer. So please continue to lift J.D. and his family up. They are some of the strongest people I know, and have been through so much.. but even the strongest of families shouldn’t have to go through something like this with out the love and support of an amazing community.
