Medical Expenses for Disabled Brother, a Ukrainian Refugee
Donation protected
My name is Liubomyr Senyshyn - a Ukrainian violinist who moved to the United States in 2016. My wife - who I met when I moved to America - and I have recently taken in my disabled older brother, Roman Senyshyn (40 years old), as a refugee, displaced from Ukraine due to the ongoing war and lack of safety in his town of residence and need for better care and assistance.
My mother, Mariia Senyshyn, who was my brother's previous caretaker - had two serious strokes this past summer and is in rehabilitation in Ukraine herself and unable to take care of my brother.
My wife and I have now very quickly become the sole financial supporters of both my mom in Ukraine (her medical bills, general living, housing, and recovery) and my brother (now here in the US living with us) who requires full-time guardianship.
Since moving here, we have discovered that my brother was not able to routinely access proper medical care due to his disability for the last 20 years, which has taken a serious toll on his general health, including the need for immediate, extremely extensive dental work - which was very unexpected.
Between my mother's rehabilitation ($5,115 USD per month for her facility and full-time care) and my brother's necessary dental work ($19,760), this is a large financial burden for our young family to take on.
Our hope is to be able to collect $10,000 to cover at least half of my brother's upcoming expenses to make sure he is able to receive the proper care that he needs and as well as continue to provide for and support my mom in Ukraine to get the care she needs to make a recovery.
