Medical expenses for COVID survivor, Marc Overby

My name is Whitney Christiansen. I am creating this fund on behalf of my Uncle Marc Overby,

his wife Teri, and son Austin.

 

In august, we had an ocean vacation that included family from Seattle and Idaho. Like many

families in the last two years, we had been following COVID guidelines and this short vacation

was the first time we had all seen each other together since 2019.

After leaving this vacation many came down with COVID symptoms, whether vaccinated or not.

Some had had severe symptoms, some mild. My Uncle Marc’s were far worse than the rest of

us. He took himself into an urgent care and they immediate transferred him to the Hospital

because his oxygen was below 80%.

 

He spent just short of two months in the ICU at Providence Regional Medical Center. He was

placed on a ventilator during his stay and had to go through several surgical operations during

his time there. His doctor’s report indicates he had two strokes, which has severely limited his

motor functions. Not a single member of our family had been able to see him at this time

because of the lock down. Due to all the complications from COVID, he is now in a long term

care facility in Edmonds, WA (Aldercrest).

 

At Aldercrest he is receiving physical therapy. This week’s physical therapist reported said that

he is able to pull himself up and down the hallway using his feet. He also said Uncle Marc has

been working with a walker and can now walk short distances in a straight line but cannot make

turns yet. He also said that my Uncle works incredibly hard at physical therapy and never turns

down a session. That was a great report. The facility has been in lock down so, again, we are

unable to visit him when he needs his family most.

 

Our family is asking for donations large or small to help with the medical bills. His insurance does
not cover the entire cost of the long term care facility and the existing coverage will soon come to
an end. Any amount you are willing to give is sincerely appreciated and will impact the Overby family

tremendously. These funds will be used for medical expenses, home adaptation suitable for

wheelchair accessibility, a wheelchair accessible van, and all other in-home medical care. If you

are unable to give, please share his story and lift him up in prayer.

The journey has just begun and I know my Uncle Marc and Aunt Teri would never ask for this

themselves. I’m trying to do whatever I can to help them get through this tough time a little

easier.
