I am creating this campaign for my sister, Johanna, brother-in-law, Steve and their daughters, Elisa, Ava, Mia (and Coco). Steve and Johanna have had Coco since she was six weeks of age. As their first baby, they quickly dedicated their time into training and caring for her. Coco has never been a just a family pet, she is family. Coco has been there from the start, since before their three daughters were born. From the moment the girls were each brought home from the hospital, Coco was there to watch after them. When they cried, when they slept, when they played, Coco was always by their side, like a true older sister.

Coco was recently taken to the vet for a UTI and was soon after diagnosed with hypothyroidism, a mild case of pancreatitis and diabetes. Before Steve and Johanna could begin her necessary treatment, Coco quickly fell ill. She was taken into the hospital Friday evening and has been there since. Doctors were able to lower her blood sugar from over 400, but her glucose is still unstable and lingers in the low 200s with a few sudden spikes. Coco was in a lot of pain, due to the pancreatitis and inflammation and currently has a lot of fluid in her abdomen. Last night, doctors performed an ultrasound to find the source of the fluid buildup and they are awaiting results. Coco has been fighting through fevers as well and so far shows no signs of giving up. The family was able to visit and spend some time with her yesterday and the girls are eager to bring Coco home.

Unfortunately, medical expenses are already nearing $4000 and the doctors say Coco is nowhere near ready to return home. My brother-in-law lost his job as a Border Patrol Agent after an on-the-job accident about five and a half years ago. He is currently disabled and they work hard to make ends meet.
I understand that the holidays are a strenous time for everyone, especially where money is concerned, but I ask for your help in any way possible. Any amount you can donate would be a great relief for this family, as well as would prayers and sharing their story.
