As many of you know our brother, Cambo, is fighting Cholangiocarcinoma. Feel free to look it up or message us with any questions. He has undergone an hepatectomy to remove tumors on his liver, pancreas, and gall bladder, which removed more than half of his liver. During surgery the surgeon cut his hepatic artery, which is one of two main blood supplies to the liver.
He is currently 10 days post surgery, but there have been expected complications. He is strong and is currently somewhat alert, but this is only the beginning of a very long fight. The Drs. have said his liver is beginning to regenerate, and things seem to be moving in the right direction, but it's a slow healing process.
Once he is healed from surgery he will be working with oncologists to assess the next steps. He is currently in the ICU at UMass in Worcester, and unfortunately can only have limited visitors because his stimulation needs to be limited. If you would like any details on his recovery and how he's doing feel free to ask us.
During this tough time we are asking for any help with living expenses, support for his children and family, as well as medical expenses. Because of his immigration status (yes he's here legally), his medical coverage is complicated and it's unclear what will be covered. We want to support him financially so it's one less thing he needs to worry about during this time.
Thank you to everyone who has shown their support thus far. All of your positive vibes are helping move him in the right direction and he can feel it, so keep it up.
