Medical Expenses for broken leg surgery
We are Dakota’s mom and bonus dad, James. On December 5th 2020, Dakota broke her leg and ankle on her left foot and sprained the right ankle when she fell while we were setting up the Christmas tree.
2020 has been hard on everyone and Dakota has certainly been no exception. Her beloved cat Selina had to be put down and then she had to quit her job that she had for many years at the bank because she was starting school and the hours would not work with school. She had just got hired for a new FT job when Covid hit and that company had a hiring freeze so that offer was rescinded. Putting her out of work from March to September. She now has been working 3 part time jobs trying to pay her way though school. Taking it day by day trying to stay healthy and get through this year and BAM! she fell, once we thought, just maybe, Christmas could be nice.
She was rushed to the ER, once there they took x-rays and saw she broke her ankle and her fibula in her left leg. She also has extensive soft tissue damage, as the ligaments and tendons in her left leg are all torn. Her ankle was set at the hospital but her fibula requires surgery and hardware to repair. She will be seeing an orthopedic surgeon this week. Being the year of covid I hope she doesn’t have be alone at appointments and after surgery. She also has a bad sprain in her right ankle which has confined her to straight bed rest until healed from surgery.
Due to her work situation, Dakota does not have medical insurance. We are seeking aid at every avenue to help with the financial burden this will have. We know it’s been a difficult year for everyone, we are grateful for any help you can give, even if it’s just spreading the word for this fundraiser.
