At their 20 week anatomy ultrasound, Bo and Baylee found out their sweet boy has VACTERL. “VACTERL is a disorder that effects many body systems. It stands for vertebral defects, anal atresia, cardiac defects, tracheo-esophageal fistula, renal anomalies, and limb abnormalities. People diagnosed with VACTERL association typically have at least three of these characteristic features.” Baby Marek has a cyst at the base of his spine, one kidney, and no anal cavity. Because of this condition he will have to have surgery immediately after birth to create an anal cavity and be placed in the NICU for a month. He will have to have surgery again when he is 6 months old to remove the cyst on his spine. This has caused Bo and Baylee to have to travel to Boise to see a specialist for her appointments. She will be induced February 5th, but unfortunately they have had to be in Boise since January 20th because she was life flighted due to preterm labor. I am putting this together in hopes to help with costs of traveling, hotels, food, and medical expenses.
