Medical Expenses for Anthony Lukas

Lambertville is a charming little town along the Delaware river with a strong social fabric woven by sidewalks and conversations. But it’s the people of Lambertville that really set it apart.

Anthony Lukas is one of these people. You may know him - a tall dude in a cowboy hat who was full of piss and vinegar who along with his wife are the proprietors of Iron and Oak on Union St.

Whether it’s strapping a sofa to his back and climbing a ladder to deliver it to a second story room, literally saving a man’s life, helping friends during Ida or fostering and then adopting three great kids - Anthony is a force of nature.

Last week, all of this suddenly changed. Anthony suffered a series of strokes - each one worse than the last. At the young age of 59, our vibrant friend has been robbed of the use of the right side of his body and the ability to talk.

Anthony’s recovery depends on the help of physical therapy. He needs to relearn how to swallow, hold his body upright, use the right side of his body and regain the ability to communicate.

But the family insurance covers only the first seven days in the hospital and none of the physical therapy during his expected 90 + day stay at a recovery facility.
