On November 16th, my best friend Tim's wife, Amber, was involved in a serious auto accident with a semi truck. While she and her 3 year old daughter were travelling to school, her Tahoe was struck broadside exactly at the driver door. Her 3yr old was behind the driver seat and was miraculously spared without a scratch on her, Amber wasn't so fortunate. She was cut out of the vehicle and sustained a fractured skull, broken collarbone, a pelvis fractured in 3 places, 6 broken ribs, a partially collapsed lung, a lacerated spleen and multiple bumps and bruises. Amazingly, despite those horrific injuries, she was alert and talking in the ICU yesterday and was moved out of the ICU today (11/18). As you might expect, she is in a terrific amount of pain.

Tim and his wife Amber are some of the most amazing people you will ever meet. They met when they were both young, then lost touch, and through fate, were brought back together. They now have a blended family of 7, and just recently got married and bought a house that could fit their large family. Because of the many life changes over the last year, Amber was between health insurance providers. Due to the nature of the injuries she has sustained, it is a foregone conclusion that she will exceed her limits on what her auto insurance provider will pay. She has a very long road to getting out of the hospital and an even longer road of physical therapy ahead of her which will put a huge financial strain on this loving large family. Obviously she will not be able to work during this time, and Tim will have to take time off work to nurse his amazing wife back to health and be a parent to their 5 children.
