Medical Expenses and Support for Whyle McConnell

Donation protected
Whyle McConnell left the house enjoying the day, just as any when he can take a motorcycle ride down to Rory’s in Edmonds for lunch. For a Whyle Burger, of course! However, on this Monday, in a moment everything changed.

Whyle was in a traumatic motorcycle accident in Shoreline. There is still uncertainty on the full story at this time (which we all can already hear Whyle telling us someday). What we are comforted in knowing for certain, a woman saw the accident and immediately called 911.

He was transported from the motorcycle accident site directly to Harborview Medical Center. Whyle has suffered many physical injuries - he underwent emergency spinal instrumental fusion surgery and we are uncertain of paralysis from the waist down. He has 15 broken ribs, sternum, and right clavicle. Upon impact, his lungs punctured and is undergoing intubation respiratory therapy. He has a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is still in vulnerable condition and we hold him in love.

In an instant, he went from celebrating a beautiful day to celebrating the moments he could look us in the eyes, move his arms, and nod his head yes and no in response. Our family has been shocked by this experience… We are so grateful for each baby step and all the miracles we are seeing happen tangibly. We all are thanking God that he is still with us and Whyle’s spirit is alive. If you really know Whyle, his visionary mind and will-power are already doing the work.

Whyle is looking forward to coming home, however, he really has just begun the long recovery journey. He is working very hard to keep powering through every hurdle, therapy, and uncomfortable day and night. Lynn Dee King and Skye McConnell have been warriors by his side (literally, not a moment away for the past 5 weeks), as well as Kyle McConnell who has also been down with him as he can. Our family continues to make daily trips to make sure he has someone with him at all times.

His prognosis of full recovery is uncertain. No one knows. Right now his daily progress is most crucial - So all possibilities are on the table. He will be in recovery and rehab for 12- 18 months, with many changes for his family and future.

Our goal is to send him at least $100,000 towards his overwhelming medical expenses from this. Ongoing ICU hospital stay, medical care, surgeries, dialysis, missed work, physical therapy and so on. There will also be at home changes that need remodeling for his future comfort. Please help us in contributing anything you can - Whyle deserves a happy and healthy future life. Any donation, big or small, would be so helpful!

Please pray for him, for his family, and that he will continue to make big progress.

Thank you!
