I went to the ER on 8/24/25 due to low oxygen. I was hospitalized twice for this issue two years ago. I am at the ER for a few hours, and my oxygen level has stabilized. They are about to let me go home and some of my blood work comes back late. One of the blood enzymes that suggest possible heart attack is slightly elevated. They do another blood test to see if it has continued to go up. Over an hour passed and a nurse came in to draw more blood. I ask her, “I am not going home?” She counters with has anyone been in to talk to me. My response is no. She tells me she will send the doctor in. The doctor comes by in a while and informs me the blood enzyme has gone up. They are not sure exactly what is wrong and are going to send me to their Heart Center in Indianapolis.
They conduct tests at the Heart Center. While doing a Heart Cath they “discover” my Aortic Heart Valve is bad. How bad? Fifty is considered bad, mine is rated at 90. The doctor who did the cath tells me in his fifteen years of experience he has never seen a heart valve rated that high.
They are able to replace the valve through a procedure that is minimally evasive. The surgery is called Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement or TAVR. I was in the hospital for a week, which was a total “blast.”
I have had a second stay in the hospital, 09/21/25 through 10/3/25. This time I was in for a UTI, Pneumonia, and bacteria in my blood. I am currently home, with the assistance of home health care. I am starting this GoFundMe to cover lost wages and medical expenses. The lost wages will be $3000.00. I cannot work while receiving home health care. I currently have home health care through 10/13/25. The hospitals will write most of what my insurance does not cover off due to my income level but this does not apply to imaging and anesthesia due to being different companies. The remainder of the funds will cover medical expenses. Not sure how much that total will be. The majority of the charges for my first stay occurred on 8/24/25 and total just over 154k. Due to my income level the hospital will write most of this off but I will still have medical expenses. How much I am not sure, I am thinking about 10,000.00.
