Medical Expenses After Discharge
Donation protected
Hello, this is Shannon and I'm fundraising for my Dad's medical expenses once he's released from the hospital. They've claimed they're going to send us someone to help with resources for the last three days but we haven't spoken to anyone yet and I thought we better get a head start on plans for the future.
My Dad, Marty Perkins, was hospitalized on Friday due to low oxygen saturation and a hypertensive crisis. His blood pressure when we arrived was 202/108 and his o2 was 94%. They ran CBC and renal blood work and he had a white blood cell count as well as acute renal injury. In renal labs came up a little bit today but are still concerning, his blood pressure is currently at 170/120 with an o2 of 92%. They also noticed his potassium and phosphate levels were low and are currently treating those. Today they're switching his blood pressure medications because the ones they were giving him aren't working.
The doctors are assuming he has COPD complicated by acute respiratory failure with hypoxia. They're unable to run the correct testing for the formal diagnosis of COPD and would like to refer him to a pulmonary specialist. Unfortunately, he doesn't have insurance and doesn't have the money to pay a specialist out of pocket for those tests. Nor his prescriptions to maintain his blood pressure or low electrolytes once he's discharged.
I'm making this to try and raise money to help with his treatment while I work toward getting him on disability and state medical insurance to cover future costs. I'm also hoping to hire a disability attorney that can assist in expediting this process for him. Any help is appreciated and will go directly to his care.
Thank you!
