Last week, my 5 year old niece Kendell Anderson was attempting to climb on a dresser to cut on the T.V., and both the dresser and the television fell on top of her.
She was unresponsive for 24 hours, and was on the life support for 3 days. She had severe head injuries including multiple head fractures, a broken nose, with drainage from her brain through her nose. She suffers from 5th Cranial Nerve Damage: loss of nerves that control your face and ear. She has no hearing in her left ear at all. For the next several days Kendell suffered from a lot of complications.
The doctors then recommended that 3 surgeries be done but they had never done any of them before. The surgeries posed a big risk that could wither worsen Kendell situation or possibly cause her death. Therefore, after praying and seeking God for the answer her mother Dazarae Dawson who is 24 years old had to make a life altering decision, and she refused the surgeries. Afterwards a Miracle took place and Kendell's brain fractures started healing on their own and she was getting better.
The doctors and nurses then nicknamed Kendell, "Little Ms. Miracle" because they had never seen anyone survive these type of brain injuries before let alone be able to talk and be as responsive as Kendell was.
By the Grace of God, Kendell is alive and slowly progressing. We all know she will never be the same Kendell again, but we love her just the way she is! Ours...
Kendell will need speech therapy, physical therapy occupational therapy, concussion clinic, a ear, nose and throat specialist, an optimologist, a nerosurgeon and a plastic surgeon. In addition to the appointments, Kendall will need eyeglasses, hearing aids, protective helmets, wheel chairs. Futhermore, Dazaraes older car needs car repairs to lessen the risk of breaking down permanently.
Today, after being hospitalized for 11 days, Kendell is home. But the journey to healing has only just begun. Her mother (Dazarae Dawson) currently resides with a family member. A few days prior to this unexpected event Dazarae, signed a lease to move into her own place on the 10th of November. Now, she does not know how she will afford it, because Kendell will need around the clock care and she will not be able to work at all. She will be applying for Disability but as we all know that could take a long time to start. Until then they have nothing.
This incident has caused Dezarae to let go/loose job and only source of income. Her younger baby's father is willing to help as much as possible. He has committed to working 60-75 hours a week, to try help maintain the new home. But they will still fall short.
Dazarae is in need of help financially to be able to provide the level of care her daughter needs. With everything going on lack of finances is only adding salt to the wounds. I am so very proud of her for being so strong and even headed throughout this entire ordeal. Please pray that she continues to have peace of mind and strength. Although she is under a lot of stress, pressure to decisions to make, she has stood firm in God, giving him all praises that Kendell is alive.
We ask that you can give what ever you can to help "Little Miss Miracle" & Dazarae? God did not spare her life for nothing, she has a purpose for being here! What ever you can do to help them will be appreciated including prayers. We would be most grateful to be able to meet this goal for Kendell so that Dazarae can focus on helping her daughter get well and not worry about financial burdens.
