Medical Expense Support for the Scaglia Family

To say that Jeff and Bethany Scaglia have had an extremely difficult year is an understatement. Back in December, Jeff suffered some complications from his autoimmune disease which has caused him to be out of work for several months. In the process of Jeff's recovery,  his wife, Bethany, suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm on March 5th. She was air lifted to Strong Memorial Hospital where she had to undergo a 4 1/2 hour surgery to remove the blood which was between the brain and skull and to clip the aneurysm. It is too soon to tell how long she will be hospitalized and what the long term effects may be from all this. To make matters worse, Jeff was re-admitted to the hospital with a kidney infection. How long he will be there and what the plan is, going forward, is unclear at this time.

For anybody reading this who may not know Jeff and Bethany, they are two of the most selfless people you could ever meet.  Jeff would do just about anything to help anybody he could.  Jeff is a mechanic by trade and has probably fixed the vehicle of everyone he knows (for free) at least once;  oftentimes, buying the parts himself if they could not afford them.  He has been dealing with health issues for all of his adult life, never once complaining about it.  In the past couple years, he has had some pretty serious health complications which has resulted in him being out of work for months at a time. This has made it extremely difficult for the family to stay caught up on bills and household needs.

Bethany has always worked in a field which helps others. She was a teacher for many years at a preschool program for underprivileged families.  She now works  for a company that provides help to people with mental and physical health challenges.  She took many years off between those two jobs to raise their son, Tyler, who is on the autism spectrum.   Bethany spent countless hours advocating for him at school and pushing him to be the best he could be.  Those were hours well spent as he will be graduating this year and has a good plan for what he wants to do after high school.  Tyler has greatly stepped up over the past couple weeks in ways that no 17 year old should have to. With both of his parents in a hospital bed, he has kept up with his school work, continued to work his part-time job, taken care of the household pets, and maintained the general upkeep of the house.

As one can imagine, Jeff and Bethany's hospital bills (in addition to a Mercy Flight transport) are piling up and with both of them being out of work for an indeterminate amount of time, they are going to need all the financial help and support they can get.  Both have a long road ahead; therefore, all donations will be greatly appreciated.
