Medical Expense Relief for Jennifer Cheek
Don protégé
Not a Happy New Year. Jennifer had a leg rash and a sore throat she was taking antibiotics for. However, the "rash" kept looking more serious, more like a third degree burn or a bacterial invasion. Early in the morning on Friday, January 11, 2019, Jennifer collapsed on her way to the restroom, breaking open larger sores on her leg, and vomited blood. An ambulance was called immediately by myself, her partner of fourteen years.
After some tense hours in the ER, Jennifer was admitted to a hospital room. Over the course of the day, it was determined that she had cellulitis, likely from the strep bacteria. In addition, ulcers were found in her esophagus and her stomach.
She received at least two blood transfusions, a change in the make-up of the antibiotics she was being given, and given a rotating staff of nurses.
I am raising costs to help pay for the medical expenses that Jennifer's insurance won' t completely cover as well as attempting to make up a portion of the costs we will both continue to accrue due to potential therapy, pharmacy costs, missed time at work, and parking expenses, to name a few.
As of this writing, Jennifer is still recovering in a hospital room and we don't have any real idea what any of this is going to cost, financially speaking. I based the goal of this campaign on the average medical expenses Google Search informs me patients paid in 2018. Really, any amount helps.
Jennifer and myself thank you for making this unfortunate surprise a little less overwhelming.
With Love and Gratitude,
Eric Schreeck
