Surgical Emergency

Donation protected
An awful lot of Americans are underinsured do to no fault of their own. This is a perfect example. I am raising money for my cousin who is disabled. Her husband works a full-time job and a part time job. He has worked for the full-time company for more than 40 years. It has been years since he has gotten a raise and with the cost of living increasing each year he would now be considered working poor. His company seems to be taking benefits away each year. The  medical coverage that Sue and John pay thousands of dollars for each year is now inadequate. Many doctors in their area refuse to even accept the insurance coverage that they pay his employer for. Her deductibles are outrageous and medical bills extremely high.

Susan is not only my cousin but also my best friend and partner in crime. She has just had unexpected surgery to remove a large pituitary tumor. She just recently found out about the tumor, although the doctors have said it has been there for years, and the surgery date was rushed to get the tumor out of her skull. I am not trying to raise an enormous about of money, just enough to pay the upfront amounts due for her MRI’s, bloodwork, Doctor co-pays and what the hospital has tried to demand. Her only other option would be not to  have the tumor removed, not to have the MRI’s needed to see placement of the tumor before surgery, and to see how the pituitary gland looks after the surgery, not have the bloodwork necessary and not see the doctors. There is no choice in my eyes. She deserves a chance at life and not be held captive by the cuts her husband’s employer has made. These cuts affect real people.

She has struggled with health and weight for most of her adult life. With the new diagnosis her medical problems are beginning to make sense and there is a real hope that her health can be fully restored.

We all hit tough times in our lifetimes and here is a chance to help someone fighting through her toughest time. Please consider donating.
