On Christmas Day, Kris was brought to the Emergency room in Katy, TX with extremely bad headaches, blurred vision, nausea, confusion and altered consciousness. Upon assessment, she was immediately transferred to Methodist Hospital Downtown due to the severity of her symptoms. She went into a coma and was intubated with feeding tubes while the Doctors began running tests to determine what was happening as high blood pressure is hereditary in her family. It took 4 of the longest days EVER to diagnose her with posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES).
Kris is a fighter and the great news is, this syndrome is reversible! She was in ICU for 19 days with a massive amount of swelling on her brain. As the swelling reduces, she is gaining some motor functioning back but has some ground to cover. The left side of her body and short-term memory are still not functioning great but that is expected. The Doctors said because she is young, her recovery will be longer but she is already progressing much faster than expected. She's continuing to work hard at an inpatient care facility.
Few things:
- Please lift Kris, Jeremy, the kids (Caden, Callie and Cessa) and the whole family in your prayers. We know that God has Kris wrapped in His hands and pray for a full recovery in Jesus' name! Please pray for peace for the kids, Jeremy, family and friends as they navigate these next few months of care and recovery.
- Please consider donating to the medical costs for Kris from the hospital and rehabilitation centers. Kris and Jeremy have been faithful friends and leaders for many of us on the field/court or in daily life. This is our chance to give back generously to help in any way possible!
Thanks for your prayers and support - Much love.
Update:
Kris is progressing well at the new inpatient facility in Houston. This location is working 7'ish long hours daily to rehabilitate her mind and body. Please continue to keep Kris, Jeremy, the kids and family in your prayers!
