We are saddened to report that after 14 months of treatments and then being declared Cancer Free for 3 months, a routine MRI detected that 10 year old Addie’s cancer has returned. Medulloblastoma can be located in 3 different areas: the brain, the spinal cord, and the spinal fluid. Addie’s 1st diagnosis had it located in 1 of the 3. This time, the cancer has been located in all 3.
Addie has begun treatment for her relapse at Rainbows Babies and Children in Cleveland. The treatment plan is an outpatient treatment, requiring multiple trips weekly. Addie’s oncology team has - and will continue to - reach out to other pediatric cancer hospitals and research centers around the U.S. in search of a treatment plan or a clinical study that provides a higher success rate. This means the family will of course travel to get Addie the best care possible.
At this time the family could really use prayer and positive thoughts as they battle this disease again. Of course there is the financial need as well. In addition to medical bills and the outpatient commutes, there is the expense of a possible temporary relocation should Addie qualify for a study/trial outside of the Cleveland area.
