Medical Expences for Emerie

Donation protected

This is my grand daughter, Emerie Grace Dill. She is a typical 13 year old teenager. Next school year, we pray that she will be going to school to the 7th grade, hanging out with her friends and enjoying life to it's fullest.

In March, Emerie started to complain about her stomach hurting. She could not hold any food or liquids down. During those 3 months, she had lost over 30 pounds! She has been to several medical providers, primary and specialists.  After numerous lab and diagnostic tests, she was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. She was waiting to have a colonoscopy to confirm the diagnosis, but continued to have extreme abdominal pain and fever. In the meantime, prescriptions were given, blood tests and ultrasounds ran. Each and every medical visit had a huge copay and or deductible.

Emerie had been taken to the ER three times in the past 3 months and was told that she was severely dehydrated and anemic. IV fluids administered and more prescriptions given and she was sent home. Finally the ER at Scottish Rite Children's Hospital (Atlanta, GA) admitted her to try to get at the source of her condition.

Emerie was admitted and then immediately moved to the ICU on Sunday, 6/2/19. This is after tests were showing she had pancreatitis, possible leakage from her appendix and or bowel and her kidneys were functioning at approx. 22%. Within 6 hours, she had two surgeries. One to place a port for 24 hour dialysis and the second to replace the pick line that delivered medications and draw blood from.

The doctors want to remove her appendix, repair and biopsy her bowel but need to wait for her kidney numbers to rise. The infection from what is happening in her belly is affecting her kidneys but they can't fix the problem until her kidneys are better.

She is being removed from dialysis in intervals in hopes that they will respond and repair themselves. When their numbers rise, she will be sent home to heal for 6-8 weeks and then return to have her appendix and bowel surgeries.

In order to be sent home, her family which consists of mother, father, brother and sister, will have to continue to monitor her condition and keep a watchful eye. She will be sent home with medical equipment and a home health care nurse will make daily visits. In order for her to receive the home medical equipment, they will have to pay a large deposit. The expenses have become huge and have been a great source of concern for all of us. Doctor visits and tests were postponed in the beginning because the medical providers would not see her without all of the copay or work out a payment plan for treatment.

Any donation to Emerie's care would be greatly appreciated. We understand that not everyone is in the position to donate and all prayers are appreciated and welcome. We continue to be thankful for God's mercy, protection and blessings.
